This Privacy Policy explains how The Loop NYC mobile application, also displayed as “The Loop” (the “App”), and the related backend services operated by Abhiveer Singh (“The Loop,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect information. It also explains your choices and privacy rights.

This Policy applies to the App, its production backend, and support communications sent directly to us. It does not govern third-party websites or services that the App opens, such as Beehiiv, Instagram, Apple Maps, venue websites, event-registration pages, or merchant websites. Those services apply their own terms and privacy policies.

The short version: You can browse without an account. If you allow location access, the App requests a when-in-use location fix to provide nearby results; it does not maintain a location-history profile. The App uses Sign in with Apple for accounts, Supabase for backend services, and privacy-limited PostHog product analytics when configured. We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or track you across other companies’ apps or websites. Production session replay is disabled.

1. Who we are and how to contact us

The Loop NYC is an independent student-focused city guide and newsletter companion operated by Abhiveer Singh. For purposes of applicable privacy law, Abhiveer Singh is the controller or business responsible for the personal information described in this Policy, except where a third party independently determines how it handles information.

Email privacy questions, requests, or complaints to [email protected]. Please do not send passwords, Apple identity tokens, government identification, student identification, payment-card data, or other highly sensitive information by email.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

Account and Sign in with Apple information

Account creation is optional for ordinary browsing but is required for features such as syncing saved items, submitting reports, and receiving account-linked notifications.

When you choose Sign in with Apple:

• The App asks Apple for your name and email scopes. Apple may provide your name and either your email address or an Apple private relay address, generally when you first authorize the App.
• The App sends the Apple identity token and a one-time cryptographic nonce to Supabase Auth so the token can be validated and a Loop account can be created.
• Supabase assigns a Loop user identifier. Authentication records may include your Apple account subject identifier, email or private relay address, provider metadata, login timestamps, and security information needed to operate the account.
• The App stores your given name in your Loop profile when Apple supplies it.
• The App does not ask you to create a Loop password and does not receive your Apple Account password.

Authentication access and refresh tokens are stored on your device in Apple Keychain with device-only, when-unlocked protection. They are removed on sign-out, account deletion, or when authorization is revoked, subject to successful device operation.
